IN MEMORY OF:
In Memory Of Emma: I’ve just made a donation via paypal in memory of my darling Emma. I adopted her through Forgotten Felines 15 years ago, and she brought so much joy to my life before her poor little heart gave out earlier this month. I’m attaching one of my favorite pictures – she truly was a beautiful cat, with a very sweet disposition to match. I miss her very much.
In Memory Of Pepper:Enclosed you will find a donation in memory of our cat, Pepper. I want to tell you a little about Pepper. We adopted her in late August or ealy September of 1990 from Forgotten Felines. She was a 5 or 6 weeks old tortoise shell-we adopted her and gave her the name Pepper.Over the years my wife, my daughter and I - none of us "cat people" loved her. From the moment we brought her home, she gave us great joy. Watching her grow up and continuously testing herself was a wonder. It took awhile but we got used to finding her all over the house including stuck under furniture, in closets and inside boxes. She didn't always show great kindness to strangers- she truly was a "scaredy cat" but she loved us. Remembering all the nights she slept in bed with my wife and me, brings me great peace and joy.She loved to eat- we spoiled her- not only her food but she had personal favorites such as pesto sauce (and other Italian sauces), chicken, beef & whipped cream ( her birthday favorite.)Over the yaers she slowed down. She didn't jump as high or run as fast- this too was amazing to watch- she understood and accepted the limitations of aging. Over the last several years, she had her share of physical problems but kept coming back. Until about 10 days ago, she still jumped up on the bed and living room furniture. Then, suddenly, she couldn't. She truly slowed down but kept eating. Finally, this past Sunday, January 2, 2011, Pepper past away, peacefully, in my lap, while my wife and I petted her. Even in her death, she gave us the gift of not having to make "the decision."She was 20 1/2 years old!Pepper taught us so much- including how to become "cat people." Taking care of her made us more compassionate, caring and patient people. I want to thank Forgotten Felines for the gift of Pepper. We thought when we got her that we were doing her a favor and we were, but she returned that favor many times over.I hope this gift in her memory will help so that others can receive the same gift we did. Thank you, again, for what you do, Sincerely, Jeff, Sharon, & IlanceIn Memory Of A Special Soul Named George
“George left us at the age of 11. A rescue from Forgotten Felines and the last of his litter, he was easily the most affectionate cat we have ever had. He would talk to you, demand to be held, nuzzle your face, knead your stomach when sitting on your lap, and then reach up with his paws and give you a hug. His passing was sudden, unexpected, but blessedly without extended suffering. We will all miss him very much and thank him for sharing his life with us.”
Thanks, Justin, Deborah, Hannah and Aaron Friedland
IN MEMORY OF MARK CASHMAN:
Dear Forgotten Felines:
About thirty-five years ago, my husband Mark was driving home one evening and saw some kids on the side of the road with a sign "free kittens." He always said that he never really knew why he stopped, but he did and took home a little black female, who he named Stewball. As soon as he got her home to the apartment he shared with a bunch of other young guys, he thought, "What have I done? I'm now responsible for this little life." The panic did not last long, however, and when Mark moved into his own apartment, Stewball was joined by Snagglepuss, Guido and Max, who were all rescues. When I met mark in 1989, he still had Guido and Snagglepuss and I joined him in his love for cats. Over the years we have had several generations of rescued cats. Mark always said that as long as he was around, some cat who needed a home whould always find one with him. Stewball, Snagglepuss, guido, Max Ophelia, Jack, Agnes, George, and our present gang, Kimo, Red Molly, Maggie and Aloysius, can all attest to that.
Mark passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest this past January. I know that he often donated to your organization because we found our cats Kimo and George through you. I have, therefore, enclosed a donation in Mark's memory that I hope will help you inyour care of all the cats that you rescue. I also intend to carry on Mark's pledge. As long as I am here, some cat (or two) who needs a home will find one with me. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do, sincerely Nancy Cashman
